We really can't blame others. By and large our children imitate what they see at home. There are exceptions but generally this is true. So parents and grandparents be so careful what you are teaching your kids about life, the church, priorities, respect for other races, God and the Lord Jesus himself.

A certain young lady here at Northside, that has 4 children, and is from Kentucky sent her children to torture me Sunday. She knows I do not like Kentucky basketball and so she sent her children to torment me. They came to where I was sitting and asked me to bend down so that they could tell me a secret. When I did they started yelling "We love Kentucky." Not once but over and over and over. Now I know that Arkansas Children where not born with a love for Kentucky. Somebody had to fill their little hearts with such nonsense. You see we are what we are taught.

More good news. Diane's sugar diabetes is under the best control ever.
I love Easter. Yes I know it is next month and I know for Christians, every Sunday is Easter. But the resurrection is the core of the Gospel Message. Isn't it wonderful that around the world people think about the risen Christ for a least one day of the year. It has always been a mystery to me that some believers are more comfortable with the bunny stuff than they are with having a special celebration about the most dramatic day in human history.
I love this song by Eddie Carswell :

What a joy it was to hear Dr Jauss say to Diane you are in remission. In August Diane will go through some more tests. If the tests come back clear she will not have to be tested so often. PTL!!!!
When I was a student at FHU Dr Bradford use to say, "Give me my roses now." Good advice I think. Tell your loved ones today, "I love you." Life is fragile.

Our sister congregation in Hot Springs Village is having an open house Sunday. There will be several groups there to sing including our own One Friday. There new building is beautiful and very well laid out. May God Bless their work in the Village.
G man (Gerardo) is working with me today. There is not a finer young man than G man. He has such a spirit of service and is willing to serve wherever he is needed. We are blessed to have him as a part of Northside. I want to take him to Africa so bad. It would be a great experience for him and the African brothers would love him. I am praying about it, Will you join me in praying for guidance in this matter.
As part of our domestic missions Joel Lewis is working some with the South West Church of Christ. I want to encourage you to worship with them from time to time. It will be a great encouragement to them and to Joel.

I am preaching this Sunday. In my study I ran across a video about Eric Liddell. Eric was a Olympic Gold Medalist from Scotland. Joel Lewis told me that Eric Liddell is one of his favorite heroes. Liddell was a man of great convictions. Liddell said, "We are all missionaries. Wherever we go we either bring people nearer to Christ or we repel them from Christ."

I am going today to a funeral in Higden. I have become more sensitive to such things after the passing of my mother. I remember every kind word, card, memorial donation, visit, acts of kindness (like picking up Joel and me up from the airport or teaching my class), and meals brought. It was so special to see friends from congregations where I have preached make the effort to come to the memorial service. I am blessed to have so many friends who still care after many many years.
I am teaching 2 Corinthians on Sunday Mornings and I have been surprised how relevant it is to my life. I am looking forward to teaching it again next quarter. I love this passage: 2 Cor.5: 1 For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, 3 because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. 4 For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
The Spirit of God is a guarantee of Heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel sorry for those who do not believe that we are really given the Holy Spirit. So many things are uncertain but we have a guarantee from God.

Wow. Life happens. I have not been able to keep up with my blog. I am going to renew my efforts (again) and try to blog at least twice a week. Aren't you glad we serve a God that not only looks at our intentions but also looks at our motives.
****I went to Dorothy Clifton's funeral today and it was a beautiful service. Jimmy did a wonderful job leading singing and brother Stracener gave a very nice eulogy. He seems to have such a wonderful sweet spirit. It was a joy to listen to him. Tommy Clifton was unable to be a the funeral due to back problems. I know Tommy was very sad about this. Please pray for his recovery.
