Wrinkled or Renewed
Wow! Yesterday I turned 62. I am one those that Paul talked about in 2 Corinthians 4. You know those whose "outward body is perishing." Or those he talks about in 2 Corinthians 5 who are finding "tent camping" increasingly uncomfortable. Here is the bad news. This happens to everyone. Here is the good news. You don't have to get old just wrinkled. Paul says the "inward man is being renewed day by day. The bad news is that that this is not true for everyone. Some just get old. Only those who let God keep renewing them experience this inward renewing. It our choice.

Read this and praise God.
I wanted to pass along a reminder of the power of prayer, as if we need any more reminders. Jo Anna’s mom had a cat scan last week in preparation for treatment. The treatments were to start this week. The doctor called her this morning and said that her tumor had gotten smaller, for “some unexplainable reason.” Do we need to explain it? As a result, she does not have to start treatments this week. In fact, she doesn’t have to see the doctor again for a month. At that time they will do some more blood work and probably another scan to check her progress.
She isn’t out of the woods, but God is most definitely in charge.

Givers
Northside has a few cranks (God love them). Every time we pass out forms (like the song survey) or have an event there will be a few cranks (God love them). But and this is a big truth, Northside is a generous church. Every time there is a special need Northside exceeds it. Whether it is camp scholarships or items for the homeless in the Dominican Republic( items continue to pour in) , or Mission Sunday, or food for the pantry, or whatever, Northside always comes through. A giving church is a Godly church. I am not saying we are perfect or cannot grow even in the grace of giving but I am impressed with how the congregation always come through. Thanks God for our givers. God will bless you. Luke 6:38

Appointments
I am sitting here in my office depressed. I had a 10 o'clock appointment and they didn't show up. I have missed a few appointments in my time but I am usually faithful to keep my appointments. Maybe they got tied up or had car trouble or were to busy or just forgot. Maybe that is what happens to a lot of folks on Sundays when the fail to keep their appointment with God around the Lord's table. There is one appointment that we will all keep no matter what. That is our appointment with God. Hebrews 9:27.

WOW!
I just came back from the outreach building and the meal that Missy and Ed are cooking smells and looks wonderful. I don't have a problem with my appetite. Well that is not completely true. When it comes to homemade chicken fried steak, pizza and etc. I am always hungry. But when it is spiritual food I sometimes have an anemic appetite. What about You? Do I take the Bible for granted. I hope not. I want to have a helathy spiritual appetite. Please pray for me.

Encouraging
Last week I attended a meeting about the blood drive that will be held at our building June 23. One of the ladies made a wonderful comment about Northside. She said, "If I lived in Benton I would attend this church." This comment came as a result of her contact with Terry, Ed and others when we had a blood drive a few months ago. I believe our community and area is beginning to see Northside as a church that cares and has grace filled people. Glory to God.

You Have to See This!
You need to watch this video. Click this sentence and be prepared to be thrilled.
Jesus Saves!
Jimmy will show a wonderful and touching video tonight for Summer Oasis called "indescribable." It is powerful!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can't afford to miss this. We have our Prayer garden in my Sunday Morning class room tonight at 6:30.
I have been noticing in church bulletins a lot that is political. I believe that is a mistake. We must stay on message. God is not a Republican or a Democrat. What is our message? Jesus Saves! I know some will say yes but there are moral issues. I agree. But just like Israel we have to learn that a "king" is not our solution. The biggest moral issue is that billions have never heard the message Jesus Saves!
